Bonnet House offers 5 interdisciplinary community-based programs designed to enrich classroom curriculum, meet Sunshine State Standards, reinforce character education and offer FCAT activities. These programs are tailored to various grade levels and interests.
Bonnet House education programs are designed for educators who are seeking assistance in meeting today's education demands. These education programs:

SCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
IMAGES AND IMPRESSIONS OF BONNET HOUSE Novice or experienced art students will find inspiration at Bonnet House Museum. The creativity of the Bartlett family makes this home truly unique. Throughout the main house, you will see murals on the ceilings, faux marble on the walls and floors. On the estate grounds students will become acquainted with the ecology, history, design and preservation of this unique thirty-five acres. In conclusion students will have the opportunity of creating their own artwork with the help of one of Bonnet House Fine Art Teachers. Follow up sessions can be provided.
Cost: $8.00 per student ($1.00 for follow-up visits) Program Length: 2 hours
BIRCH BONNET BARRIER ISLAND BEAT ABOUT Bring the classroom out to the field! The Bonnet House estate and Hugh Taylor Birch State Recreation Park provide unique sites for field study of environmental history. The textbook comes to life through the observation of various native and exotic species, discussions of environmental issues and participation in hands on activities and experiments on the barrier island, along with the wonder of the historic structures themselves.

AN ECO HERE AND AN ECO THERE
Investigate the various ecosystems of South Florida on the estate's grounds. This unusual site for a field investigation allows for exploration of rare natural habitats and inspiration from Bonnet House itself.

AN OLD SOUTH FLORIDA PORTRAIT Explore two historic homes of the early 20th century! Discover the different lifestyles of two families who lived on New River and Fort Lauderdale Beach and uncover the importance of historic preservation. Examine state and local history while witnessing the environmental impact on the historical sites of Bonnet House and Stranahan House.

AFRICAN-AMERICANS REMEMBER Discover this wilderness retreat through the oral histories of the African-American staff who lived and worked on the Bonnet House estate during the 1930s and 1940s. These workers tended the fruit groves, natural vegetation and gardens while caring for a menagerie of exotic birds and monkeys, which still occupy the property. Each student will receive a free coloring book, Caught In A Florida Sun Shower and each teacher will receive a copy of African Americans Remember Life in the 1930s and early 1940son the Birch-Bartlett Properties.

Education Programs: There is a maximum number of 60 students per day, but multiple days can be booked throughout the school year.
Payment: Fees are due before or on the day of the program (check or cash). Classroom teachers and 1 chaperone for every 10 students are complimentary. Additional chaperones each pay the student fee.
Available Funds: Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is an approved cultural institution for the School Board of Broward County's Supplemental Arts and Sciences Program (SASP). Check with your School Bookkeeper for available funds.
Audience: These programs are available to private and public schools, civic organizations and organized home school groups.
