Bonnet House, designed and built in 1920 by Frederic Clay Bartlett, is one of the few complete homes and studios of two recognized American artists which still contains its original furnishings and is open to the public.
On the 35 acres of the Bonnet House Estate you can walk where ancient Tequesta Indians, early European settlers and shipwrecked sailors once roamed. Look overhead and catch a glimpse of squirrel monkeys jumping through trees and see swans, wading birds, raccoons and an occasional manatee. The house and grounds are filled with lovely paintings, whimsical sculptures, unconventional personal touches, which are evident throughout the property.
The Bartletts created and preserved a special retreat for you to explore. We encourage you to share this experience with your students in one of our many Educational Programs, which will enhance your classroom curriculum. Bonnet House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
